The idea
01

Freestanding

Nothing anchored to your house. No bolts in the studs, no ceiling mounts, no landlord conversation. It stands where you put it, and leaves no trace when it doesn't.

02

Folds flat in under a minute

Two crossbeams lift out and the frames nest flat against the wall, screen still standing. One person, no tools, timed on video.

03

Moves when you do

New house, new garage, spare room this winter. The whole enclosure relocates like furniture, not construction. It's equipment you own, not a renovation you committed to.

Lights down.
The screen stays up.

Fold the bay away and the impact screen stays standing on its own frame: a ten-foot projection wall for movie night, the game, or a race. Rival folding sims lace their screens into the panels, so folding kills the screen. Ours doesn't.

Will it fit?

Check your space in ten seconds.

The bay plays at about 10' wide and folds flat against the wall when you're done. Garage, spare room, office, covered patio: punch in the space you have and see exactly how much of it you get back.

  • Folded, the bay sits flat against the wall and the room's depth comes back. The measured folded depth publishes with the spec sheet.
  • 8.5 ft ceiling clears the 7.5 ft frame; a 9 ft ceiling gives a driver swing more headroom.

Questions

Straight answers.

The things buyers actually ask, answered plainly. If yours isn't here, join the list and reply to the first email; the founder reads every one.

Will a golf simulator fit in my garage and still let me park?

Yes, if it folds. The StowGolf bay plays at about 10 feet wide, 7 feet 6 inches tall, and 5 feet deep, then folds flat against the wall. The car goes back in every night. Use the fit tool on this page to check your exact space in ten seconds.

How long does it take to fold away?

Under a minute for one person, no tools. Two crossbeams lift out and the frames nest flat against the wall with the screen still standing. Setting back up takes about a minute. We time it on camera with real footage, not a claim on a spec sheet.

Do I have to drill into my walls or ceiling?

No. StowGolf is fully freestanding. No bolts in the studs, no ceiling mount, no landlord conversation. It stands where you put it and leaves no trace when it's gone.

Is a freestanding enclosure rigid enough for real swings?

Ours is tested with real swings in daily prototype use, including driver. The frame is engineered with positive locks, not tent poles and velcro. Every demonstration of the bay taking ball impact is real footage of the actual prototype.

What about bounce-back and mishits?

The impact screen hangs on elastic ball bungees at every grommet and floats, absorbing the strike instead of trampolining it back. Rigid ties are the documented bounce-back cause, so we never use them. Follow the recommended tee distance like any screen. We are documenting impact testing as the founding builds come together.

What ceiling height do I need?

The frame stands 7 feet 6 inches, so even an 8 foot ceiling fits the bay itself. What matters just as much is your swing: if you can swing a driver in the space today, the bay fits around it. A 9 foot ceiling gives a driver swing more headroom. The fit tool checks both.

What is included?

The complete enclosure: frames, crossbeams, shell panels, netting, and the impact screen, at one price. No separate frame purchase, no parts list to assemble from three vendors.

Which launch monitors and projectors work with it?

All of them. StowGolf is the enclosure and screen; you bring the launch monitor, projector, and mat you already own or prefer. Nothing about the bay locks you into anyone's tech.

Can I take it with me when I move?

Yes. It relocates like furniture, not construction. New house, new garage, spare room this winter: fold it, move it, stand it back up. That also means it ships in a flat box with lower freight and less to damage in transit.

How is StowGolf different from a mounted retractable enclosure?

Mounted retractables bolt to your wall or ceiling and stay where you installed them. StowGolf touches nothing. It folds flat, moves between rooms or houses, and the screen stays standing when the bay is stowed, so the same screen runs movie night. Renters can own one.

Isn't this just pipe-and-drape hardware with fabric on it?

Partly, yes, and we say so. The V1 stands start from proven pipe-and-drape hardware because it's the right freestanding base: field proven, stock sizes, no custom tooling, nothing drilled into your house. What you can't buy as a pole kit is the system built on it. A floating screen on elastic bungees at every grommet, decoupled from the frame, which is the documented fix for bounce-back. Fold geometry with witness-marked set points, so it folds in one motion and stands back up square. Cut-and-sew shell panels engineered to the frame. Theater Mode, where the screen stays standing when the bay folds. And one complete kit with a published spec sheet, support, and a person behind it. A $190 pole kit is poles. This is a bay.

When do I actually get it?

Founding builds start after the production prototype passes its measured spec and impact documentation. Reservation holders get the dated build schedule first, before it's public. Your slot number is your place in the build order, and your $100 stays refundable the whole time: if the window we announce doesn't work for you, one email gets it back.

Why pay $100 when the waitlist is free?

The waitlist is the door: free, and it puts you on the Founding 50 list for build updates and first look at the schedule. The Founders Reservation is the seat: $100, refundable, one of 25 numbered build slots at founding pricing. Slot number is build order. The first 25 units get built and shipped in reservation sequence, with a direct line to the person building them. If you just want to watch, the list is enough. If you want a unit from the first batch, the slot is the only way to hold one.

How does the refund actually work?

Reply to your reservation confirmation email, or email hello@stowgolf.com, and we refund the full $100 to your original card. No restocking fee, no forms, no store credit. Card refunds typically post in 5 to 10 business days, which is the card network, not us sitting on it. Refundable anytime before your build ships.

What it's made of, on the record.

Named, specified, published

Every material in the kit is named and specified: the fabric weight, the grommet type, the stitch standard. If a sim enclosure won't tell you what its screen is made of, ask why.

A measured screen

A 10 foot by 7 foot 6 hitting screen, measured on the real build, not a CAD promise.

Parcel, not freight

Ships in two boxes by regular parcel carrier. No freight truck, no liftgate appointment, no shipping window. It arrives like a package, not a delivery event.

Ballast ships empty

The ballast bags ship empty. You add sand at home for a couple of dollars. That's part of why this kit arrives by parcel instead of on a pallet.

Screens are consumable

Impact screens wear. Every brand's does. Ours is a standard, replaceable part, not a reason to buy a new enclosure.

Founder, not a call center

You're buying from the person building it. Founders get a direct line to the build, and if the bay isn't right, we sort it out personally.
